Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of Spelling Bee (the “Activity”), a multiplayer game that runs as a Discord Activity inside the Discord application. The Activity is operated by its developer (“we”, “us”). By launching or using the Activity, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Activity.
1. Eligibility
You must meet Discord’s minimum age requirement to use Discord and this Activity (at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher). The Activity is delivered through Discord, and your use is also subject to Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
2. What the Activity does
Spelling Bee is a turn-based multiplayer spelling game. Players join a shared room, a word is read aloud using text-to-speech, and players take turns spelling it. The Activity uses your Discord display name and avatar to represent you in the game, and shows your in-game actions to the other players in your room.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Activity to harass, abuse, or harm other players;
- Submit content that is unlawful, hateful, or otherwise violates Discord’s Community Guidelines (note: typed guesses are visible to other players and the game filters common profanity, but you are responsible for what you submit);
- Cheat, automate input, exploit bugs, or otherwise interfere with fair play or the integrity of a match;
- Disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Activity or its servers;
- Use the Activity in violation of any applicable law or the terms of any third-party service it relies on.
We may limit, suspend, or remove access for anyone who violates these Terms (for example, the game may move a player to spectator mode for detected automated input).
4. No accounts, no charge
The Activity does not create a separate account for you and does not charge any fee. Your identity is
provided by Discord through Discord’s OAuth, using the identify permission only. We do not
request access to your messages, email, friends, or servers.
5. Privacy
Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
6. Intellectual property
The Activity, including its code, artwork, and design, is owned by its developer and protected by applicable laws. “Discord” and related marks are trademarks of Discord Inc.; we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord. The English word lists used for gameplay are sourced from publicly available dictionaries and reference materials.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Activity is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Activity is a hobby project and may change or stop working at any time.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Activity.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Activity after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
